Market Insight Corporation (powered by MyProductAdvisor.com) is an early stage, consumer market research / technology company; comprised of a small but talented team. The company is seeking a Manager, Consumer Insights & Analysis. This is currently an “individual contributor’s” position, with considerable interface across the team. MyProductAdvisor.com delivers unbiased buying recommendations to shoppers, and the preferences it collects fuel a powerful consumer intelligence system (the company’s core competency and business). Market Insight Corporation (MI), the company behind MyProductAdvisor.com, was established in 2003. The company is currently based in Palo Alto, California – but will relocate to the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area in September, 2012.

The Team is searching for a professional consumer market research analyst. The nature of the company (its technology, size, culture) requires that the individual contribute beyond just “data analysis”. The individual must effectively uncover and convey powerful market insights using the company’s patent pending technology, interface effectively with clients, convey the value and advantage of the technology to prospects / partners / clients, and be a positive element of an overall “team business development” initiative. We are searching for an individual who has related industry experience, and possesses a “drive” and passion for the work.

Traits:

The candidate must be a high energy, high caliber individual. The company is relatively small in number of employees; but the level of talent is extremely high. The candidate must be creative, self- motivated, have strong organization skills, be flexible, be driven to achieve/exceed goals, and be a solid communicator (verbal and written). The position requires an individual who can operate in a “structured entrepreneurial environment”, multi-task, and put the objectives of the team first. A strong candidate will be innovative and creative, while respecting the stated structure and objectives of the organization. The candidate must embrace the team’s culture. The perspective of the core team is guided by what can be contributed to the company, not what can be benefited from the company. The importance of these traits cannot be overstated. A viable candidate must have some experience in this type of environment and should understand the significant differences between this environment (as described).... and a large, institutional environment.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have 5 to 8 years of experience in the consumer market research / market intelligence industry. This experience should be pertinent to the position description; as well as to the industry sectors that MI serves.

  • Experience as a consumer market research analyst with a company that serves clients or provides market intelligence to end user clients (as a “seller” of analysis and insights as opposed to exclusively a “buyer” or consumer of analysis and insights)
  • Strong tactical business sense within highly competitive and fast paced consumer markets
  • Knowledge and awareness of the solutions / services / products that MI’s potential competitors (large and small) bring to the markets served
  • Ability to identify and use consumer data and insights in the creation of effective marketing strategies
  • Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative market research methods, including web-based research techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to understand, integrate and synthesize data to form insightful observations and clear, actionable business implications
  • Strong influence skills, including strong written/oral communication and strong executive level presentation skills
  • Intermediate technical proficiencies in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong math and/or analytical skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to articulate information effectively
  • Strong project management skills

Responsibilities:

The position requires someone who, under the guidance of the CEO and with the support of the team, will “roll up their sleeves” for responsibilities including (but not limited to):

  • Serve as a primary contact for clients and partners
  • Perform analysis requests made both internally and by clients and partners, utilizing the company’s analysis applications
  • Attend client meetings, understand business objectives, identify and communicate client needs
  • Convey and position MI solutions and systems effectively to prospects, clients, partners
  • Provide training to client users on functionality and use of MI’s analysis applications and database information
  • Comprehend, evaluate, recommend, affect the MyProductAdvisor (MPA) UI as a primary source for consumer sample collection that fuels insights and analysis
  • Ad hoc support, basic technical support, questions and analysis
  • Support Client, partner, and internal Team needs in a timely and efficient manner demonstrating a sense of urgency, tenacity, and commitment to quality

A Plus:

The candidate has industry contacts that would be open to introduction. These would include prospects, partners, and clients in the specific product sectors that Market Insight serves, as well as within the market research communities as a whole.

Location:

The Company will be relocating its headquarters office to the Phoenix, Arizona Metropolitan Area. This relo will occur by September of this year (2012). The position will be based out of the Phoenix Area office. Candidates should reside in this area.

Travel:

The position requires interface with various marketplace entities and events including clients, partners, shows, etc. As such, travel is required for the position. It is expected that the candidate will travel approximately 25% of the time. Some international travel may be included. Personal considerations are always respected when planning travel, but oftentimes the travel schedule is dictated by requirements of the business.

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required. Advanced degree may be considered a plus.
