The company is seeking a Director of Marketing.  MyProductAdvisor.com is a consumer facing website that provides a real-time portal into the minds of consumers.  This online service empowers shoppers through a process that gathers their preferences for specific product attributes.  MyProductAdvisor.com delivers unbiased buying recommendations to the shopper, and the preferences it collects fuel a powerful consumer intelligence system.  Enterprise companies utilize the intelligence as a unique measure of shifting consumer sentiment.  Market Insight Corporation, the company behind MyProductAdvisor.com, was established in 2003, and is led by recognized industry executives.  The company is based in Palo Alto, California, USA.

Industries: 
Market Insight is a consumer intelligence company.  As such it is a small, early stage, innovative, new paradigm competitor / augmenter to market research companies such as Nielsen, TNS, Synovate, NPD, Maritz, GFK, Harris Interactive, etc.   Our Company currently serves intelligence for the automobile and consumer electronics sectors.  Further, the real-time, consumer portal (MyProductAdvisor.com) generates incremental value as a lead generating tool for its clients / customers.

Location: 
Of course, the position may be located in the company’s headquarters office in the San Francisco Bay Area.  But alternate locations will be seriously considered.  An individual located in a remote location will be required to travel regularly to headquarters and be expected to operate seamlessly with available technology.

Experience:
The candidate should have five (5) to ten (10) years experience in the consumer market research / market intelligence industry.  This experience should be pertinent to marketing activities described in the position description; and also pertinent to the industry sectors that MyProductAdvisor.com serves.  Social media will play an important part of future traffic generation for consumer data input.  As such, the candidate should be capable of leading those initiatives.



Position Description:

Traits:                         
The candidate must be a high energy, high caliber individual.  The company is relatively small in number of employees; but the level of talent is extremely high.  The candidate must be self motivated, have strong organization skills, be driven to achieve / exceed goals, and be a solid communicator (verbal and written).  The position requires an individual who can operate in an entrepreneurial environment, multi-task, and put the objectives of the team first.  A strong candidate will be innovative and creative, while respecting the stated structure and objectives of the organization.

Skills: Successful candidates will exhibit:
- Strong strategic marketing orientation and tactical business sense within highly competitive and fast paced consumer markets.  They must also exhibit demonstrable abilities to effectively identify and use consumer data and insights in the creation of effective marketing strategies.

Plus:                        

  • Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative market research methods, including  online research
    techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to understand, integrate and synthesize data to form insightful observations and clear,
    actionable business implications
  • Strong influence skills, including strong written/oral communication and strong Executive level
    presentation skills

       
Responsibilities:                  
The position requires someone who, under the guidance of the CEO and with the support of the team, will “roll up their sleeves” for responsibilities including (but not limited to) pricing, product/service positioning, product roadmap development, competitive analysis, marketing communications programs, web-based facilities, traffic generation, trade show participation, and related marketing activity.  The candidate should also be comfortable and effective dealing with prospects and clients/customers.  Some strategic alliance / business development activity would also be expected.  The candidate should be capable of accurately interpreting, creatively generating, and effectively presenting the company’s sophisticated intelligence (consumer market analysis).  In all, this individual should be able to contribute heavily to the company’s marketing agenda, within the context of tightly managed outbound communications budget.

A Plus :                  
It would be considered a “plus” if the candidate had industry contacts that would be open to introduction.  “Industry” contacts would include those in the specific product sectors that Market Insight serves, as well as within the market research community as a whole.

Education:                  
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Advanced degree preferred.
